ADI Design Index 2026 Selects Casa Cini, an Industrial Architecture System Designed by Adriano Design with Brazilian Company Cinex

Casa Cini, a prefabricated housing system developed and produced in Brazil by Cinex, with design and art direction by Adriano Design, has been selected for the ADI Design Index 2026. The annual publication of the best Italian design products and projects is the first step toward the next edition of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI Award.

Born from a reflection on the crisis of the traditional construction industry and the opportunities of off-site building, Casa Cini brings the logic of the industrial product into housing: integrated design, controlled production, engineered precision and optimized use of materials. This approach significantly reduces waste and installation time, and allows costs to be estimated exactly.

The house is built on a modular steel frame that can be configured in different layouts and sizes, completed by movable floor-to-ceiling glazed surfaces.

At the heart of the project is interior transformability. Casa Cini moves beyond the home divided into static rooms and offers a layout that changes throughout the day. Thanks to Cinex’s sliding-system technology, equipped walls and functional volumes can be moved with minimal effort: bed, walk-in closet, study, kitchen and interior partitions are built into mobile elements that glide on magnetic carriages.

The transparent walls, also derived from Cinex’s know-how, are not just openings but variable devices that erase the boundary between inside and outside.

Casa Cini’s dimensions allow transport by standard road haulage, avoiding exceptional transport and making the model scalable and replicable in different territories. Its modularity is both technical and typological, allowing the home to evolve over time.

Cinex is a Brazilian company founded more than twenty-five years ago to produce high-precision glass and aluminum doors for kitchens. It has since grown into an industrial manufacturer specializing in large sliding systems for architecture. That expertise made it possible to take the project from the scale of the interior to that of the entire building envelope. Under the art direction of Adriano Design, and inspired by the studio’s innovative vision, Cinex undertook a technology-transfer process that led to Casa Cini.
