A DRIVER OF DEVELOPMENT AND BEAUTY

A Lightweight Modular System

The new Aria lift, developed by Vimec in collaboration with Adriano Design, marks a genuine turning point for the sector. Its lightweight yet sturdy aluminum frame allows for fast installation in nearly any space, while also making it simple to customize the cabin’s walls and flooring — all without compromising the product’s structural solidity and perceived value.

The lift’s formal language and construction choices reflect a high standard of design, one built to reimagine the home lift not as mere equipment but as a true architectural microspace. Aria adapts readily to each project’s needs, functioning less like a fixture and more like a piece of furniture — one that enhances its surroundings and blends naturally into them.

System-Wide Modularity

Modularity is the guiding principle of the entire system — not limited to the structure, but carried through to every major component, command panel included. The outcome is a panel with a bold, distinctive identity, one that never loses sight of usability.

Ergonomics and accessibility were treated as priorities from the outset: mechanical buttons rendered in Braille ensure the product speaks to every user, without exception.

Interior/Exterior Interpretability

Mirroring the cabin’s structural system, 10 mm panels create the framework for a striking range of material inserts — metal, wood, resin, upholstery, leather, fabric — each contributing its own character to the finished cabin.

Cleaf melamine panels reproduce any texture with remarkable fidelity, combining high-quality results with a durable, certified material that stands up to daily use without compromising on appearance.

The system goes further still, offering exclusive material finishes through partnerships with industry leaders such as De Castelli for metal and HD Surface for clay, resin, and cement — collaborations that bring genuine craftsmanship and material expertise into the heart of the design.

The duplex lounge overlooking Lake Como is served by an Aria lift with sliding glass doors that vanish into the stone cladding of the shaft. A panoramic window framing the lake view turns the vertical transfer into an exciting journey with a view. Its modular control panel features touch buttons and a TFT display.

In this Parisian apartment, Aria becomes a room within a room — not a foreign technical insertion, but a micro-space that travels between the floors of the house. It integrates seamlessly with the architectural space, sharing its aesthetic language: automatic double swing doors, vertical handles, and surfaces and flooring drawn from the same architectural context.

The Design of AR:IA

The home lift is a solution designed to improve a house’s comfort, efficiency and functionality — and with them, the wellbeing of everyone living there throughout their daily routines. It suits every situation and every user, becoming a genuine “product” chosen for its usefulness and for the value it adds to the building. Thanks to its constructive features, which make installation straightforward, AR:IA can be integrated into the surrounding architecture invisibly, or become a distinctive element in its own right, thanks to its range of customization options.

Every component of the home lift is thoroughly redesigned, with an approach centred on essentiality. The mechanics disappear, and the structure remains lean, making AR:IA both technically and visually non-invasive. Functional details have been created to be intuitive, with maximum safety always in mind, while carefully selected materials can be matched to the interior finishes. Controls, handles and platform are all patented.

Communicating the Values of the Project

A significant part of every project’s success lies in the ability to communicate the values of the product — and of the project as a whole — to prospective clients. Shaping a narrative around a system’s capabilities, in a way that is clear and compelling to its audience, demands close collaboration between those who conceived the project, the engineers who developed it, and the people who ultimately sell it.

In Adriano Design, as part of our role as the art director, we  ensures a coherent flow of information across these departments, structuring communication materials for maximum clarity — without ever oversimplifying the complexity of the product systems themselves.

2023

Vimec is an Italian company specializing in home mobility solutions — stairlifts, home elevators, stair platform lifts, and inclined platform lifts. Founded in 1980 near the Po river between Mantua and Reggio Emilia, it has stayed rooted in that territory while growing into an international player with over 160,000 installations across more than 65 countries.

Since 2017, Vimec has been part of the Swedish group Investment AB Latour, and in 2024 became part of Innovalift AB, uniting ten specialized companies in the platform lift, stairlift, home lift, and elevator components sector — together employing over 1,300 people with pro forma revenue of roughly 3.34 billion SEK. The company has expanded through branches in France, Spain, the UK, Poland, and Germany, and reached milestones such as supplying equipment for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. In 2021, Vimec invited Adriano Design to collaborate on new visions for the home lift market, a partnership that led to two ambitious and innovative new projects.

Vimec’s mission centers on connecting people to the places and people they love through tailored, barrier-free solutions, backed by a sustainability commitment spanning environmental, social, and economic dimensions — recognized through certifications including ISO 14001, Great Place to Work (2023), and UNI/PDR 125:2022 for gender equality (2024).
