The Storm project was born with a clear objective: to reposition the Astoria brand at a higher level in the market. The ambition was to create an uncompromising machine, capable of demonstrating to the industry the company’s real capabilities in managing the complexity typical of specialty machines.

Based on these premises, Storm takes shape—a project that immediately achieves such success that it transcends its role as a simple product, transforming itself into a true brand: Storm Barista Attitude, today recognized in the world of specialty machines.

Storm becomes iconic. And precisely this success generates a new need: a segment of the market is not seeking a specialty machine at that level, but desires something equally fascinating from an aesthetic point of view, simpler in technology and more accessible in use. A machine capable of making excellent coffee, without the complexity of advanced systems like independent boilers.

From this demand Pilot is born.

The design challenge is clear: to integrate single-boiler technology within the Storm bodywork, without compromising its formal identity.

To achieve this objective, Adriano Design develops a coherent engineering and formal solution: the boiler is housed in the rear part of the machine, in a volume that integrates seamlessly with a metal trestle. The latter is made of steel sheet metal, an essential element that unites structural function and formal expressiveness, preserving intact the distinctive character of this iconic machine.
